The Flinders University Council is the governing body of the university, with responsibility for its strategic direction, overseeing institutional performance, appointing the Vice-Chancellor, managing risk, ensuring financial solvency, and monitoring alignment with community, legal and ethical expectations.  Council is supported in its responsibilities by an Audit and Risk (ARC) Committee and a Finance and Investment (FIC) Committee.

The University is seeking to appoint a Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee (who is also a Council member), one additional external member of Council, an external member of the ARC, and an external member of the Finance and Investment Committee. 

To be considered, you will have experience as a Board Director or executive with a demonstrated history of community and industry engagement. Knowledge of the South Australian and higher-education landscape is desirable but not essential. To complement the backgrounds and skills of the current Council, ARC Committee and FIC Committee, Flinders University is seeking individuals with a broad range of experience including:  

  • Strategic leadership (including higher-education leadership)
  • Contemporary audit and risk management practices
  • Financial management and corporate finance 
  • Sales and marketing
  • Cybersecurity and digital strategy
