Make a real difference for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, families and communities 

In this important role, you will support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people accessing acute mental health services by providing culturally safe, respectful and community-informed support. You’ll work closely with clinicians, consumers, families and community organisations to help people feel understood, supported and connected throughout their care. 

About the Role 
As a valued member of the Cultural Assessment & Liaison Team (CALT), Adult Program Area, you will: 

  • Support culturally appropriate assessment and care planning for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers accessing Acute Care Services 
  • Provide cultural support, guidance and advocacy for consumers, families, carers and other key stakeholders 
  • Work across Acute Care Services, including the Acute Care Team and Adult Acute Inpatient Mental Health Unit 
  • Build and maintain strong connections with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community organisations and service partners 
  • Contribute to culturally appropriate health promotion activities, particularly in mental health and substance use 

Your work will help strengthen cultural safety, improve engagement and support better outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people accessing mental health care. 

Salary and Benefits

  • Base salary: $72,447 to $76,736 per annum (HWF2) 
  • Annual leave: 4-6 weeks per year with 14%-17.5% leave loading

Requirements 

Under s25 of the Anti‑Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community. 

You will require: 

  • Certificate III in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care
