About the role
We are looking for three Trainee Water Quality Analysts to join our Laboratory Services team. This role supports the testing and monitoring of water quality and plays an important part in protecting public health, waterways, the environment and Country. This traineeship is a paid, 24‑month fixed‑term opportunity that combines on the job learning with formal study. No previous laboratory experience is required. What matters most is your interest in science, water quality, and your willingness to learn.
You will complete a Certificate III in Laboratory Skills through TAFE Granville while working alongside experienced laboratory teams and building practical, hands on skills.
In this role, you will:
- Complete a Certificate III in Laboratory Skills as part of your traineeship
- Learn how to collect, prepare and analyse environmental samples such as water, soil and sediment
- Receive, register and process samples using established laboratory procedures
- Use laboratory equipment and systems under supervision
- Record test results and information accurately using digital systems
- Follow safety procedures and report any hazards or incidents
- Assist with field sampling activities and learn correct sampling techniques
- Work as part of a team and rotate across different areas, such as biology, chemistry or field sampling
About you
We’re looking for someone who brings:
- A genuine interest in science, water quality or environmental work
- A willingness and ability to complete a Certificate III in Laboratory Skills
- The ability to follow instructions and work safely
- Basic computer skills (for example using tablets or Microsoft Office)
- Good attention to detail and care when recording information
- The ability to work cooperatively as part of a team
- Reliability and the ability to manage your time and tasks
