About the opportunity
The Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (AUSTRAC) is Australia's anti-money laundering regulator and specialist financial intelligence unit. In our regulatory role AUSTRAC oversees compliance with the requirements of the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (AML/CTF Act).
We are seeking motivated, high-performing professionals to fill a range of Enforcement vacancies across APS5 to APS6 levels. These roles are central to protecting the integrity of the AUSTRAC regulatory frameworks, ensuring compliance with legislation, and supporting fair, transparent, and effective enforcement outcomes.
Successful candidates will contribute to regulatory operations including compliance monitoring, investigations, risk assessments, stakeholder engagement, and enforcement action.

- Relevant Experience – Management experience or a background in enforcement or regulation is highly desirable.
- Qualifications – A degree in law or finance will be highly regarded (for APS6 roles)
- Enforcement and Regulatory Knowledge - The ability to interpret and apply legislation, exercise statutory powers appropriately, and deliver fair, evidence-based compliance and enforcement outcomes
- Judgement, Integrity and Professionalism - The ability to make sound, defensible decisions, act impartially and ethically, and maintain composure and discretion in sensitive or high-pressure situations.

Key Duties
The Enforcement Professional is responsible for:
Enforcement and Investigative Activities
- Support and undertake enforcement activities in accordance with legislation, policy and governance frameworks.
- Assess information and evidence to identify potential noncompliance and evaluate enforcement options.
- Contribute to investigations, enforcement actions and regulatory decision making appropriate to role scope.
Analysis and Case Support
- Analyse information, data and intelligence to support enforcement assessments and outcomes.
- Maintain accurate records, case documentation and evidentiary material in accordance with governance requirements.
Regulatory Decision Making and Advice
- Contribute to enforcement recommendations, briefs and reports for internal decision makers.
- Apply sound judgement in all matters, escalating issues as required.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Engage professionally with regulated entities and internal and external stakeholders in relation to enforcement matters.
- Support coordinated and consistent regulatory engagement across AUSTRAC.
Governance, Quality and Continuous Improvement
- Ensure enforcement activities are conducted lawfully, fairly and transparently.
- Contribute to quality assurance, risk management and continuous improvement of enforcement practices.
Eligibility
To be eligible for this role you:
- Must be an Australian citizen at the time you apply.
- Will need to undertake AUSTRAC’s pre-engagement checks.
- Will need to obtain and maintain an ongoing Baseline Security Clearance
