The Health and Community Services Directorate delivers integrated long-term policy advice for the ACT Government and client-centred services for those Canberrans who need them. It strives to support a safe and fair community where Canberrans feel they can reach their full potential and lead fulfilling lives.

 

The Executive Branch Manager, Office for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs will be responsible for the provision of high-level strategic advice and policy for the ACT Government and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.  You will communicate sensitivity effectively and will provide best practice advice, policy guidance and reporting support to those areas of Government responsible for delivering specialist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander services as well as building cultural integrity across all mainstream services. The position is also responsible for the day-to-day management of the Office of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs and provides leadership to ensure the Office for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs and government agencies have robust working relationships to deliver effective policy and programs to enhance the wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the ACT.

 

The successful candidate will have a proven track record and experience in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs, particularly working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities.

 

This is a designated position in accordance with s42, Discrimination Act 1991 and is only open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage is considered essential and therefore a Confirmation of Aboriginality may be requested.

 

Remuneration: The position attracts a remuneration package ranging from $288,060 to $298,258 depending on the current superannuation arrangements of the successful applicant. This includes a cash component of $254,964.

 

Contract: The successful applicant will be placed on a short-term contract available immediately until 30 June 2026 with possibility of a further extension of up to six months.
