The Transaction Data team is focused on improving the utility of transaction reports by working with reporting entities to improve the data quality of their reporting.

The Officer, Transaction Data is a key member of the Transaction Data team within the Data Strategy and Collection branch.  This role will work closely with the Team Leader and Manager to provide specialised administration support to the team.

  • Understanding of relevant information - Familiarity with and understanding of, or the ability to rapidly acquire an understanding of, the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Cth).
  • Provision of administrative assistance - Ability to assist with a wide range of administrative tasks related to meeting AUSTRAC's obligations and team priorities.
  • Plan and Organise - Contributes to planning own and team work targets and deadlines, identifying more and less critical activities and operating accordingly, setting priorities and monitoring work-flow to achieve workplace goals in set timeframes.
  • Communicates Effectively - Communicates clearly, concisely and unambiguously, explaining ideas thoroughly and concisely, tailoring communications to audience and circumstances and ensuring common understanding of issues while encouraging discussion and checking audience understanding.

Key Duties

The Officer, Transaction Data under general supervision is responsible for:

  • Co-ordinating day-to-day administrative activities for the Transaction Data team, including liaising with stakeholders to support the functioning of the team to ensure priorities and objectives are met.
  • Develop draft procedures and systems and identify opportunities to improve business processes to achieve best practice for the team.
  • Under general direction perform research and prepare statistical reports.
  • Investigate and manage routine enquiries/cases and provide assistance on moderately complex matters related to the data quality or integrity of either transaction reports or cross-border movement holdings.
  • Under general direction, follow established procedures in support of the manual processing of received hardcopy transaction report or cross-border movement forms.
