About the opportunity
AUSTRAC is seeking to fill position Manager, Pay and Conditions to manage and uplift our Payroll Operations and HR systems. Your day will involve working closely with key stakeholders, uncovering unique, HR and payroll challenges to build solutions that deliver measurable results. You'll be leading a motivated team of payroll professionals that manage end-to-end payroll process for approximately 850 staff, ensuring our people are paid accurately and on time. As a trusted adviser, you'll develop smooth, effective processes and procedures to align with legislation and APS policy. As an influential leader, you are a multiplier, guiding a geographically dispersed team and creating an atmosphere where people feel empowered and encouraged to contribute their best ideas. Combining proven leadership and team development experience, and strong stakeholder management, you’ll keep us ahead of the curve on compliance, automation, and scalable processes as AUSTRAC continues to grow.

Applied knowledge and experience in:
- Human Resources
Understanding and demonstrated capability in applying human resources principles and expertise.
- Application of legislative and other governing frameworks
Demonstrated ability to apply comprehensive work knowledge, precedent and established legislation, policy, procedures and guidelines to situations involving a high level of complexity and sensitivity which require considerable interpretation and analysis

Key Duties
- Leading and manage a dedicated team of five, to ensure the ongoing sustainability of the payroll operations.
- Planning and prioritise continuous improvement to business processes.
- Ensure HR system (Aurion) capabilities and processes are fit for purpose.
- Develop and maintain practices and systems to enhance the client experience in relation to pay and conditions matters.
- Assess best practice and APS wide developments.
- Identify pay and conditions risks, implementing appropriate risk controls and escalating risks.
- Provide expert conditions of employment and policy advice.
- Provide high level subject matter expertise in relation to
- Overseas Conditions of Service.
- Developing and/or implement policies, guidelines and procedures.
