About the opportunity

AUSTRAC is seeking a Specialist, Security Systems and Communications to deliver effective protective security and classification communications to support our people at AUSTRAC.

In this role, you'll act as a Communications Signals Intelligence Security Officer (COMSO) while working collaboratively to ensure AUSTRAC's people, information and resources are protected

against serious threats. As a highly attentive, and responsive individual, you'll cooperate with various teams to identify security risks and respond effectively to emerging security threats. Diligent and resolute, you'll bring a strong commitment to upholding governance over physical security systems and classified communications networks, all while supporting AUSTRAC’s mission to protect Australia from financial crime.

Please note that due to the nature of this role, although a hybrid work arrangement is supported, there is an expectation that considerable in Sydney office attendance will be required to ensure the quality provision of services to client groups. The position may require occasional interstate travel, and the nature of role will require occasional work outside of standard bandwidth working hours to support urgent, on-call or emergency situations.

The position may also be eligible for restriction allowances.

 

What are we looking for (Selection Criteria)

  • Demonstrated Experience working as a COMSO (essential).
  • Qualifications or commensurate knowledge and experience in security risk management or related security disciplines (desirable).
  • Demonstrated Knowledge and experience working with Commonwealth security systems including Gallagher and Geuterbruck or equivalent systems (desirable).

Key Duties

Security and Compliance

  • Operate and govern AUSTRAC security systems including Electronic Access Control Systems (EACS), Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), key/locking and security containers.
  • Provide security briefings to staff including pre and post travel briefings.

 

Lead and Supervise

  • Supervise contracted Security officers.
  • Supervise contract arrangements and procurement of commercial providers.
  • Provide training and advice to ensure effective security of operational activities and foster a strong security culture at AUSTRAC.

 

Communications Signals Intelligence Security Officer (COMSO)

  • Deliver functional management, including physical and system access, to the Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) and the security of all Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) within.
  • Drive compliance with the relevant legislation, policy frameworks, and elements of Protective Security - Information, Personnel, Physical and Administrative.

 

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Liaise with partner agencies to ensure certification and accreditation of secure facilities and systems.
