About the opportunity
Working under general direction, the E-Learning Developer will design, develop, and deliver engaging and accessible e-learning products that support AUSTRAC’s regulatory and educational objectives.
You will manage the end-to-end production process, collaborating closely with subject matter experts to translate technical content into clear, effective, and engaging digital learning solutions.
This role requires initiative, adaptability, and the ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments with competing priorities.
The primary role of Industry Education and Outreach is to engage with AUSTRAC's reporting entities to promote understanding of the AML/CTF Act and associated financial crime risks.

- Apply Specialist E-Learning Design Expertise – Use established multimedia tools and techniques to support the development of digital learning products.
- Produce Accessible Digital Products - Apply established design and accessibility standards (e.g. WCAG, Digital Service Standard).
- Qualifications - Relevant tertiary qualifications in instructional design, educational technology, education, graphic design, or a related discipline will be highly regarded. Experience working in the Australian Government, and demonstrated capability in e-learning, instructional design, or multimedia production will also be considered favourably.
Key Duties
The E-Learning Developer, under general direction, is responsible for:
- Designing, developing, and delivering accessible e-learning products using tools such as Articulate, Captivate, and other relevant platforms.
- Conducting quality assurance and user testing to ensure effective learning outcomes.
- Collaborating with subject matter experts to translate technical and regulatory content into clear, engaging, and interactive digital learning materials.
- Applying sound judgement and creative problem-solving skills to develop innovative learning solutions that meet audience needs.
- Ensuring compliance with WCAG 2 accessibility standards, AUSTRAC brand guidelines, and Australian Government policies.
- Providing sound advice on e-learning design, instructional methods, and digital learning approaches, including inclusive and user-centred design practices.
- Managing project timelines and multiple tasks to meet deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality and consistency.
- Applying knowledge of adult learning theory, UX principles, and accessibility to produce content that is engaging, effective, and tailored to diverse audiences.
- Using learning management systems (ideally Moodle) to deliver content and improve learner engagement and outcomes.
- Continuously improving digital learning products through stakeholder feedback and evaluation.

- Must be an Australian citizen at the time you apply.
- Will need to undertake AUSTRAC’s pre-engagement checks.
- Will need to obtain and maintain an ongoing Baseline Security Clearance
