About the opportunity 

The Specialist is a key member of the Industry Engagement team within the Education and Industry Engagement branch (EIE) of AUSTRAC. This role will provide support across all key functions of the team, with a primary focus on supporting and leading, under general direction, the delivery of our industry engagement initiatives.

The EIE branch brings together teams from education and outreach, communications and industry engagement. The Industry Engagement team has been created as an agency priority to engage with industry associations and other stakeholders, internally and externally, to coordinate and drive effective and impactful implementation of the recently amended Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (AML/CTF Act) which simplifies and modernises Australia’s AML/CTF regime and expands it to a range of new sectors.  

Due to the expansion of the tasks of the Team, AUSTRAC seeking to fill this role in the Industry Engagement team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to be at the forefront of the AML/CTF reforms, understand industry specific concerns and to play a critical role in shaping how we engage with key stakeholders to ensure Australia has a highly effective and engaged regulated population.

Key Duties

The Specialist, under limited supervision, is responsible for:

  • Leading and coordinating engagement with industry associations and other key stakeholders to ensure the proposed AML/CTF reforms are implemented in a smooth, effective and cooperative manner.
  • Develop and maintain strong and trusted relationships with key stakeholders, including Liaising and advising senior AUSTRAC and Industry leadership.
  • Co-ordinate and run industry engagement initiatives such as industry forums, workgroups and engagements for industry sectors utilising the co-design framework and industry engagement strategy.
  • Enhance AUSTRAC’s understanding of its current and future industry sectors, and ensure AUSTRAC makes effective use of this knowledge through strategic communication and engagement.
  • Liaise extensively with key internal AUSTRAC stakeholders to deliver and support engagement and consultation requirements, including in relation to AML/CTF Rules, guidance, education, communications, technology and ML/TF risks.

 

Eligibility 

To be eligible for this role you:

  • Must be an Australian citizen at the time you apply.
  • Will need to undertake AUSTRAC’s pre-engagement checks.
  • Will need to obtain and maintain an ongoing Negative Vetting 1 Security Clearance
