The Performance and Wellbeing section within Human Resources Branch delivers priority work for the department to help our employees feel safe, whole and well at work. We help to ensure we can represent the public we serve and embed diverse voices in decision making. Our recent work includes:
- Developing the First Nations Workforce Strategy, a strategy that sets out our ambitions and targets for improved recruitment, retention and professional development of and for First Nations people.
- Delivery of the Belonging at AGD toolkit, an online learning resource for staff that supports inclusion of staff from diverse backgrounds
- Collaborating with the department's Indigenous Employee Network to deliver the Narragunnawali room - a dedicated space for First Nations staff
- Delivering the Wellbeing Bonanza - a week of events and activities to support the wellbeing of staff
- Supporting the department's five staff-led diversity networks to deliver on their members' priorities – including celebrating days of cultural and religious significance.
The role of the First Nations Liaison & Inclusion Officer (FNLIO) is to enhance the experiences of First Nations staff and build the cultural competence of our broader workforce, by:
- raising awareness about supports, opportunities and resources available to First Nations employees
- reducing cultural load stemming from consultation with First Nations employees on internal departmental programs and policies
- supporting access to culturally safe learning and professional development opportunities for First Nations staff
- providing culturally appropriate support and referrals to First Nations employees
- providing advice to key areas of HR to support improved HR practices, programs and policies

HR is seeking a high performing Executive Level 1 with HR experience. The role has responsibility for the following activities:
- Preparation of written briefings and advice for the department's committees and senior leaders
- Delivery of specified actions under the department's Reconciliation Action Plan
- Supporting the maturity of the departments approach to recruitment, retention and professional development of First Nations staff through the provision of advice and support across Human Resources
- Supporting cultural capability uplift for of all staff, particularly managers, to support a culturally safe workplace
- Collaborating across the department on the implementation of staff engagement and cultural initiatives
- Supporting the department's Indigenous Employee Network (IEN) to deliver their priorities, including enhancing connection amongst First Nations staff members
- Collaborating with the IEN, managers and other stakeholders to increase departmental engagement in First Nations inclusion and cultural immersion initiatives

Candidates in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide will be required to travel to Canberra 6 - 8 times a year to meet in person with staff and managers and attend important meetings.
