The Verification Systems Engineer is a member of the SKA-Low Telescope Assembly, Integration and Verification (AIV) team. The multidisciplinary AIV team is responsible for the integration of complex digital and RF electronic systems into the SKA-Low Telescope Signal Chain and the verification of the Telescope to defined Level 1 requirements.

 

The SKA Low Telescope operates over the frequency range of 50MHz to 350MHz and its Signal Chain comprises low noise radio astronomy receiver systems and associated radio frequency (RF), optical and digital electronic systems including low-noise receivers, digital signal processing, control and monitoring, and timing systems.

 

Your duties will include:

  • Provide technical, operational and maintenance support for the installation, integration and verification of the System Under Test (Low Telescope and the representative Signal Chain at the Integration and Testing Facility (ITF)) and enabling systems and facilities.

  • Support the Low Telescope System Requirements verification in the ITF and on-site, work with the AIV (Assembly Integration and Verification) team workflows and procedures at the ITF and on-site.

  • Contribute to the development, validation, implementation and update of standard operating procedures for automatic/remote testing, system health checks, asset management and logging of the System Under Test.

  • Support the identification and procurement of electronic test equipment, components, and spares for the ITF and for AIV activities on site.

 

Location: Geraldton, WA

Salary: AU$93,267 - AU$105,517 plus 15.4% superannuation

Tenure: Indefinite - Full-time or Part-time

To be considered you will need:

  • A relevant degree and practical experience in electrical/electronic/RF engineering.

  • Demonstrated experience in systematic identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems on complex electronic systems and using test instrumentation.

  • Familiarity with the fundamentals of RF systems and mixed signal systems.

  • Strong team player with a flexible approach, can do attitude and comfortable with uncertainty.

  • Competence to accurately interpret system drawings and schematics, engineering drawings, third party operating and maintenance manuals and an aptitude for advancing system knowledge.

  • Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices, environmental sustainability and the principles of equity and diversity.
