The Australian e-Health Research Centre (AEHRC) is CSIRO’s national digital health research program, enabling the digital transformation of healthcare to improve services and clinical treatment for Australians and beyond.
 
We are actively seeking Clinical Information Modeler team to join the FHIR Accelerator team in the Australian e-Health Research Centre (AEHRC), working closely with Sparked team and various stakeholders to advance the development, management, and governance of open data exchange standards in line with Australia’s healthcare system's evolving needs.
 
This is an exciting role role’s primary focus is design, development, management and implementation of data models, clinical terminologies and vocabularies within healthcare settings, particularly through the use of the openEHR clinical modelling approach and implementation using FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) standards. Your role will be integral in ensuring consistent and accurate flow of health data across multiple healthcare systems and platforms.
 
This is a full-time opportunity which comes with a high degree of flexibility in working arrangements from home and office set-up and has the option to remain in any of the four major cities of your choice. 

Your duties will include:

• Development and governance of structured clinical data models, comprising clinical information models and appropriate terminology value sets, to ensure they are up-to-date and accurately reflect current clinical practice.
• Develop logical modelling and data mapping between different terminology systems to support interoperability among diverse health information systems.
• Active participation and facilitation in the Sparked Clinical Design Group (CDG), co-designing work with the clinical profession and industry through an agile approach.
• Active participation in the Sparked Technical Design Groups (TDGs), clarifying clinical requirements during the FHIR IG development process
• Effective communication and training capabilities to educate healthcare providers on the use of clinical data models, including openEHR archetypes and terminologies
• Facilitation of workshops with clinicians and vendors, including pre- and post-workshop documentation.
• Leading an agile approach to iteratively developing and validating the clinical modelling specifications using a consensus and community-driven approach.

Salary: AU$126k - AU$148k plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be considered you will need:

Essential

• Relevant diploma/bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience in the medical healthcare domain.
• Strong understanding of clinical healthcare practices, workflows, and regulatory requirements related to clinical documentation and health data exchange in the Australian ecosystem.
• Proven negotiation, consultation, facilitation and effective written and oral communication skills for use in a complex project environment.
• Understanding of medical terminology, including anatomical terms, procedures, diagnoses, and medications.

Desirable

• Experience of the openEHR clinical modelling methodology and FHIR standards.
• Proficiency with healthcare terminology standards such as SNOMED CT, LOINC, ICD-10, and CPT codes, and how these integrate with openEHR archetypes and FHIR resources.
• Experience in using and managing terminology services and tools and other clinical data ontologies.
• Ability to develop and govern information models for national data sets like the Australian Core Data Set for Interoperability (AUCDI) to support FHIR-based systems.
