About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Executive Director Future Industries will lead one of CSIRO's three research sectors. The Future Industries portfolio is a high profile, politically sensitive and highly accountable portfolio within CSIRO that comprises the Agriculture and Food, Australian Animal Health Laboratory, Health and Biosecurity, Manufacturing, and Science Connect Research Units, as well as the Australian Centre for Disease Preparedness (ACDP). As a key member of the CSIRO Executive Team, the Executive Director will actively engage and foster trusted partnerships with key stakeholders both within and external to CSIRO, provide strategic advice, oversee research units, lead change agendas, contribute to shaping CSIRO’s strategic direction, and contribute to CSIRO’s financial sustainability through the commercialisation of research outcomes that generates long-term impact for Australia.

 

Location:    One of CSIRO's major capital city sites.

Salary:        Attractive salary package, negotiable for the right candidate + 15.4% superannuation.

Tenure:       Specified Term - 5 years, Full-time.

About You

You are an exemplary scientist with demonstrated experience in leading the commercialisation of science, technology and innovation. With significant scientific executive experience gained in government, research and development or an innovation organisation, you are commercially astute and adept at leading large-scale operations and multi-site, multi-disciplinary teams. You are an innovative and inspiring leader who excels in the science and research environment. Through your collegial and inclusive style, you excel at building collaborative partnerships both internally and externally e.g. with government, industry and the innovation community. Apply your inspirational scientific leadership expertise, stakeholder management skills and commercial acumen to drive impact for Australia.

Eligibility

Applications for this position are open to Australian/New Zealand Citizens, Australian Permanent Residents or you must either hold, or be able to obtain, a valid working visa for the duration of the specified term. Appointment to this role is subject to provision of a national police check and an Australian Government Negative Vetting Level One Security Clearance. And may be subject to other security/medical/character requirements.
