About the role:

The role carries out the engineering and development of R&D engineering projects from concept through to and including product launch within the organization and ensure new developed products are technically sound and minimizes technical and safety risks for the organization.

Specifically, you will:

• Support and work collaboratively across the organisation with key stakeholders to introduce new products into the market
• Provide engineering assessments and technical documentation to support the execution of R&D approved projects
• Work closely with teams and suppliers to ensure that any initial project specifications involving the products are translated correctly into a suitable technical solution and subsequent project delivery
• Engineering support in the form of analysis and design, engineering checking and sign off of designs and drawings
• Ensure a culture of continual improvement is adopted into the department and promote innovation
• Carry out risk assessments on products
• Compliance to safety in design procedure (SID)

To be successful in the above duties, You will have:

• Tertiary qualification in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
• 5+ years’ experience as a R&D Engineer or similar
• Experience in a manufacturing environment, injection moulding would be an advantage
• Experienced in applying Australian Standards in design
• Ability to understand and interpret technical specs, and deliver results to sustain or improve asset lifespan
• Ability to independently carry out structural static FEA on mechanical equipment
• Demonstrated ability to develop technical specifications and engineering designs and drawings (preferably AutoCAD, and Inventor or Solidworks)
• Proficient in MS Office including MS Project
• Sound technical report writing skills
• Excellent customer relationship skills
• Mineral processing exposure desirable
